The crystal factory in Torrington held a gin distillation day on Thursday, during which it created 140-litres of its own English Crystal Gin. Devon Distillerys Still on the Move visited the site where visitors could watch the gin being made through the day. The blend was hand-crafted from scratch and bottled on site in glass bottles which were sand etched at the Dartington Crystal factory with a specially designed emblem. Dartington Crystal managing director, Neil Hughes said: Our Distillation Day was a great success and attracted many locals and holiday makers to watch, learn about and sample this special gin. We have enjoyed success in providing great glasses for gin lovers and were delighted to host the Devon Distillery here. This special batch was made with a blend of nine botanicals reflecting the North Devon countryside to create a smooth, elegant spirit including layers of juniper, Cubeb and local moorland whortleberries. The English Crystal Gin is available to buy from the Dartington Crystal shop in Torrington for £35 a bottle but availability is limited.
