Proposal to place a timepiece by the artist above the Other Criteria gallery at The Quay

Plans to erect a clock designed by Damien Hirst on Ilfracombe quay will go before councillors on Monday.

The Other Criteria gallery at 9 The Quay is seeking to install the multi-coloured timepiece above its shop front.

The clock is currently being displayed on the wall at Other Criteria's London gallery.

The planning committee of Ilfracombe Town Council will consider the application on Monday.

A statement from agent Steve Clements accompanying the application said: "In the past, the properties along this stretch of The Quay have been somewhat neglected and have not enhanced the Conservation Area.

"The clock is of a high quality design and construction and considered to be in keeping with the more contemporary treatment of Number 9 and its use."
