Dads walk for children's hospice

A DOZEN bereaved dads and two members of staff set off from the Children's Hospice South West in Fremington on Friday morning to walk 55 miles to Taunton.Their numbers were boosted later in the day by three more.They were set on their way by Debbie Bliss of Barnstaple, who lost her daughter. She wore a Children's Hospice T-shirt bearing a picture of her lost child.The dads from across the region carried out their Bank Holiday weekend walk to raise cash and awareness for the children's hospice, which had cared for their children. Their walk was part of a larger event organised by Taunton Vale Rotary Club known as "It's Childplay," which last year raised more than �20,000 for the charity.Their destination was Vivary Park in Taunton, where they were met by family and friends on Sunday.Sophie Lerwill of the Children's Hospice said: "Each dad knows at first hand the wonderful care and support which Children's Hospice South West offers families during the most difficult times n their lives. The walk also provided a wonderful opportunity for the dads to share experiences and to grow as a group.
