A cyclist has been injured in a collision with a car in Barnstaple this afternoon (Monday).

The man in his 20s is currently being treated by paramedics at the scene of the collision in Hollowtree Road, between the junctions with Old Station Road and Howard Avenue, near the McDonald’s restaurant in Eastern Avenue.

Police said the casualty has sustained possible shoulder and head injuries, as well as cuts and bruises.

The incident was reported to police at 4.40pm, shortly after the Barnstaple staged the finish to the Devon Stage of this year’s Tour of Britain Cycle race.

Hollowtree Road is closed to traffic and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
