The Custom House in Barnstaple has closed temporarily today (Monday) for a overhaul of its restaurant and menu.

A popular Barnstaple restaurant is undergoing a refurbishment of both its premises and menu.

The Custom House in the Strand is closed from today (New Year’s Day) and is expected to open again mid January.

As well as a new logo, rebranding and new furniture and paint-job, the revamped restaurant will be launching with a new menu and eating challenge.

Owner Matt Spencer said: “We will have been open for six years in March and it seemed like it was time to shake things up a bit.

“The build-a-burger concept will stay the same and we will still have people’s favourites on the menu.

“But some of the popular specials will now become part of the menu.

“We will also be opening with a brand new eating challenge, but that’s top secret for now.”

The Custom House is expected to re-open around January 17, keep an eye on their Facebook page for the latest updates.
