Thousands of Lions club members from across the South West to descend on Croyde this weekend.

Thousands of Lions club members from across the South West will be meeting in Croyde this weekend for their annual convention.

Around 1,200 Lions from 59 clubs in Devon, Somerset and Cornwall will descend on the Croyde Bay Holiday Resort for the big get-together, being opened by Chris Maloney, founder of the Special Olympics.

The three-day event, from Friday to Sunday, will feature a mixture of business meetings and social events.

Members of clubs in Barnstaple, Bideford, Holsworthy, Ilfracombe and South Molton have helped organise the weekend.

North Devon Lions chairman David Atkins said: "We will deliver a fantastic weekend to celebrate what is best about Lions - together we achieve so much more."
