Nature’s Nutrition in Bideford has re-opened as a community-run shop and launched a share offer scheme, after successfully crowdfunding £10,000
A health food shop in Bideford has reopened after successfully raising more than £10,000 through crowdfunding.
Nature’s Nutrition was forced to close in January but after six months of work, it reopened on Thursday as Nature’s Nutrition Wellbeing Ltd.
All profits from the shop will go into the community, and the opening has also coincided with the launch of a community share offer.
This means people can invest in £1 shares between £50-£5,000, giving them a chance to have their say in the business and gain interest.
It will enable the group behind the shop, which initially open Wednesday – Saturday, to make improvements, for example the addition of a juice bar.
Cheryl Stansbury, shop manager, said “At times throughout what turned into an incredibly lengthy process full or red tape, it seemed we were faced with the impossible, but we persevered and eventually saw light at the end of the tunnel.
“Now, as we re-open the doors to the shop, we are all really excited to welcome the people of Bideford to our shop, our ‘Healthy Hub’.
“We will be stocking the old favourites as well as introducing new lines over the coming weeks, including some delicious free-from products.
“We welcome feedback from our customers and will try to meet as many customer requests as possible.
“I’m particularly pleased that we will be once more selling Red Dog’s amazing sourdough bread, and, from speaking to customers, I know they will be too.”
Aside from volunteering or investing funds, the team is inviting the community to get involved and become a member of the co-op, for a fee of £1.
