Downing Street confirmed Mr Coxs appointment this evening (Monday) as part of a number of changes to Theresa Mays Cabinet. The changes follow the resignations of David Davis and Boris Johnson from their respective posts as Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union and Foreign Secretary . Mr Cox will now attend Cabinet meetings. He replaces Jeremy Wright QC, who was announced as Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport after four years as the Attorney General. The Attorney General is one of the Law Officers of the Crown, serving as the chief legal adviser of the Crown and the England and Wales Government. The Torridge MP has been in office for 13 years, and was elected for a fourth time in last years General Election with a record victory, receiving 56 per cent of the vote.
