WALKERS have said a special 'thank you' to a couple from Higher Clovelly who have made their trips around the North Devon coast so welcoming.
Sandie and Bill Brett, who run the small caf at the Hartland Point car park, have received a special award from the South West Coast Path Association to acknowledge their outstanding service rendered to walkers when stopping off for refreshments along that section of the South West Coast Path.
Eric Wallis, secretary of the South West Coast Path Association, said: "I have never known so many e-mails and letters landing on my desk telling me of the reception to our coast path walkers when they tramp into the car park, offload rucksacks and wearily collapse on to the benches outside the caf. The welcome afforded by Sandie and Bill is affable, amiable and nothing is too much trouble. I'm sure this helps our walkers on their way when they struggle into rucksacks to set forth again".
Because of the many praises heaped upon Sandie and Bill the association has recognised their friendliness with the award of a framed certificate bearing an illustration of Hartland Point by one of its members and an association T-shirt.
