AN Appledore maid and a Bideford boy will be celebrating 60 years of marriage at a special party tomorrow (Thursday).

Jack and Edna Gordon, pictured, tied the knot at Bideford Register Office in 1949 - and the diamond couple are still living happily ever after.

They met while working at the Buckleigh Laundry at Westward Ho! and used to attend dances in the village at what was then known as the "Top Camp".

Jack, 84, worked for Bideford Dairies on Kingsley Road for 36 years, while Edna, 78, fed hundreds of hungry schoolchildren during her 22 years as a cook at West Croft, Pines and Westleigh schools. The couple have three sons and two daughters, 13 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. A party will be held at Lavington Church Hall tomorrow.
