DEVON County Councillors are being asked to back a campaign to retain 24-hour search and rescue cover at RMB Chivenor.
Members of the council's cabinet will meet tomorrow (Wednesday) to consider a Notice of Motion submitted by Ilfracombe-based county councillor Geoff Fowler.
Cllr Fowler is asking the council to support the campaign and to write to the Government to convey the council's concerns.
Ilfracombe Town Council launched a campaign in November following news of the MoD plans to permanently reduce the cover from 24-hour to 12-hour in 2012, when private contractors will take over the service.
