FREMINGTON is set to bloom this summer thanks to a cash boost from its local councillors.North Devon Council members Dick Jones and John Gill have handed over a cheque for 1,500 to Chairman of Fremington in Bloom, Tony Wood. This year, the Council is providing 65,000 of funding to community and voluntary groups or organisations through its Community Councillor Grants scheme. Each Councillor has 1,500 to spend on projects within their electoral ward. Councillor Dick Jones saID: "I am extremely pleased to be able to make this grant to Fremington in Bloom. The Fremington in Bloom Committee works extremely hard for the benefit of the community and does much to enhance Fremington's general appearance through the summer months."Councillor John Gill says: "Fremington in Bloom adds joy and a feeling of well being to the whole community. It gives me great pleasure to be able to support them through my community grant."Tony Wood said: " We are most grateful for the donation from the North Devon councillors. Without this grant it was likely that Fremington in Bloom would not be happening. For three years running, Fremington has won the Gold Award for the South West Region in Bloom Competition."Community Councillor Grants have proved to be a great success with a variety of organisations across the local area benefiting from this funding from their local councillors.
