Torridge District Council agreed outline proposals for land off Hoopers Way in Torrington.

Up to 60 new homes could be built on a field off Hoopers Way in Torrington.

Torridge District Council’s plans committee agreed the outline proposals by Beechcroft Land Ltd at its meeting on Thursday afternoon.

Member of the public Adrian Freeman spoke at the meeting as an objector, and told councillors the two sites surrounding the proposed area were also earmarked for development.

He said the access off Hoopers Way might suffice for these 60 homes, but was ‘not capable’ of providing access to hundreds of homes should further applications come to council.

But councillors voted by a majority of three to approve the plans.
