NORTH Devon Council is searching for a specialist company to help turn its improvement plans for Ilfracombe sea front into reality. The council has an outline development plan for the area, which includes improvements to the public space and gardens, as well as the development of the town's museum. It is also hoped links to the coast and other parts of the town will be improved, by creating trails and better sign posting. After successfully securing £80,000, the council is now looking to develop these ideas into a more detailed plan. Once that is done, work will then begin on securing funding for the building costs of the project.Council Leader Cllr Mike Harrison, said: "Ilfracombe sea front is a real draw in the town and attracts many visitors, as well as being extensively used by the local community. These plans for the sea front aim to build on this and attract more people to the area in the future." To help develop the plans, North Devon Council is looking for a company that understands the needs of a seaside community, and has a track record in working on cultural tourist attractions. Adverts have been placed in the culture publication AI and on the Arts Council website, and responses are also welcome from local organisations.
