THE Tarka Child Contact Centre in Bideford is the latest local organisation to receive funding as part of Torridge District Council's Community Grants Scheme. The TCCC aims to provide a safe, friendly and neutral place where children involved in family breakdowns can spend time with their absent parent and sometimes other family members while being supported and encouraged to build up their relationships.Co-ordinator Sally Langbridge said: "Since our official opening in May of this year, the centre has completely filled up. At the moment we can only open once a fortnight, but with the Community Grant from Torridge of £2,000 we hope to train more volunteers so we can open on a weekly basis." Torridge Lead Member for Children Councillor Caroline Church said, "It is clear this is a much needed service for the area so I am very happy to be able to present the group with this cheque."The TCCC is a member of the National Association of Child Contact Centres.
