ANYONE living within the parish of Fremington who would like to find out more about serving their community as a local councillor is invited to an open evening on Thursday, January 15 at 7pm.Fremington Parish Council will be co-opting a new councillor in February and the informal event at Roundswell Community Centre is an opportunity for local people to find out what is involved.Existing parish councillors will be on hand to explain the role, the importance of having a voice for the community and answer any questions potential candidates might have. Candidate packs with information and how to apply will be available on the night.Co-option, where the existing councillors chose their new colleague from the available candidates, will take place at a council meeting on February 9.Applications must be received by the Fremington Parish Office no later than January 31. Applicants should be aged 18 or over and live within the parish area, which includes Fremington, Roundswell, Bickington, Yelland and Woodville.
