The coffee chain said it will employ between eight and 10 people in its new store in Station Road.

COSTA Coffee has confirmed it will be opening a new store in Barnstaple next year.

In March the coffee chain, owned by Whitbread, announced it was going to apply for permission for change of use for the former Calor Gas Studio in Station Road.

Planning permission was granted by North Devon Council in June, and now work is underway to get the store ready.

A spokesman for Costa Coffee said: “Costa, the nation’s favourite coffee shop are pleased to announce that we are opening a brand new store in Barnstaple in early February, bringing 8-10 new jobs to the local area.

“As with all of our new store openings we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”
