PEOPLE in Frankmarsh and Gorwell are being asked to nominate their neighbours for a number of special awards being presented next month.Nominations are now open for the district's young achiever, citizen of the year, and best garden. Entries can be posted at Yeo Valley School; the Co-op on St George's Road; Frankmarsh Stores; Yeo Vale Stores; or at Barnstaple Police Station until Friday, June 12.The winners will be announced at a Fun Day at Yeo Valley School on Thursday, June 18. The event, from 3-7pm at Yeo Valley School, will feature a barbeque, and tea shop, as well as help and advice from various agencies.The fun day and awards ceremony are part of a number of initiatives being organised by area police beat manager WPC Anna Fielding, to encourage community togetherness.On Thursday, May 28, the neighbourhood is holding its own Action Day. Teams of adults and children will be getting involved in litter picks, fence painting, graffiti removal, hedge trimming and grass cutting.North Devon Homes will be providing skips, while North Devon Council's works unit will be issuing sweepers and bin bags on the day.
