Main route into village is to be closed for nine weeks

One of the main routes into Combe Martin is to be closed for the next nine weeks.

Repair works to the embankment and stone retaining wall halfway along the road at Henstridge are set to begin today (Wednesday).

A letter to the parish council from Devon County Council said the damage had started to cause cracking in the carriageway of the road.

It also said a tree root had overturned causing part of the wall to fail.

In February, we reported how villagers feared the road was ‘lethal’ because parts of the verge had crumbled.
