Combe Martin is gearing up for its annual Carnival Week. Opening Day is tomorrow (August 8) at the Pack O Cards from 3pm, with whacky races for children and adults, plus sideshows and exhibitions, rounded off by live music into the evening. The carnival parade is on Wednesday, August 12, with walkers and floats assembling at Holdstone Way for judging at 6.30pm. The Raft Race is on the Thursday this year, with rafts asked to assemble at the beach at 5.15pm. All rafts should be homemade, with no bolts, screws or nails permitted. Carnival draws to a close with the Wheelbarrow Fiesta and Parade, a mini carnival in itself as colourful barrows and contestants of all ages assemble at Holdstone Way from 6.45pm. There will be a grand firework display at the seaside to cap it all. For more details about other carnival week activities, and events, pick up a programme from outlets around the village or visit the Combe Martin Carnival Committee Facebook page.
