COMBE Martin has dropped out of the list of beaches passed by the Marine Conservation Society's Good Beach Guide for 2009.Last year, it was given a basic pass in the, but this year it is marked down as having failed for its standard of water quality.The only other North Devon beach to fail was Instow, which also failed in 2008.Beaches recommended for their highest water quality standard and good treatment of any continuous sewage discharges were Ilfracombe Tunnels; Woolacombe, Barricane Bay; Woolacombe, Village; Putsborough Sands; Westward Ho!; and Hartland Quay.Basic passes were awarded to Lynmouth, Ilfracombe, Hele; Ilfracombe, Capstone; Croyde Bay; and Saunton Sands.
