Around five jobs will be saved as company takes over contract ‘with immediate affect’ after South Molton Recycle went into administration yesterday (Monday).

Commercial waste collection previously handled by South Molton Recycle (SMR) has now been taken over by a new company.

Around five jobs will be saved as Coastal Recycling, part of the Devon Waste Management group, takes over commercial waste collection from SMR.

SMR announced yesterday (Monday) it was going into administration.

Coastal Recycling, which is based in Torrington and Exeter, will be taking over the contract with immediate effect.

Steve Hadley, Coastal Recycling’s managing director, says: “We’ve worked with SMR for many years, sharing their passion for recycling to ensure the highest possible recovery of valuable resources.

“We’re sad that such a reputable company has got into such difficulties, but pleased that we’ve been able to work with their management to ensure a seamless transition for their customers.”

“For Coastal Recycling it means new customers in a part of the county that we already serve well and the opportunity to offer them a whole range of new recycling and waste management services.”

Coastal Recycling has offered support to Devon County Council and Torridge District Council as they seek a solution for household waste collection previously handled by SMR.
