After a shortened event last year, the villages carnival committee reinstated the full week this time around. On Wednesday floats and walkers enjoyed the main parade, while on Thursday there were kayak and raft races at the beach, then on Friday costumed characters enjoyed the Wheelbarrow Fiesta with a variety of inventive entries. The carnival committee said on its Facebook page: By the start of the week we had become a very small committee and we tried our best to make sure all went smoothly however we did make mistakes and these are noted and taken on board for next year. We would like to thank everybody who has helped us out this year (there are to many to mention on here individually) and thank you for all the positive feed back. We already have some new ideas for next year and will be announcing the date of our AGM shortly, so if you would like to join the committee or just want to help then please come along. Chairman Jason Fish told the Gazette: The week went very well! The support we have been given this year from so many is unreal. The local businesses of Combe Martin have been fantastic. We would like to say a huge thank you to RGB and Nick Jenkins for the donations. Also Mark Collins of Cut Above who towed our fair queen float though the village on the carnival parade night. The committee would like to say a massive thank you to everyone of Combe Martin and the visitors from far and wide for the support this year - as chairman I was overwhelmed to see so many with smiles of joy on their faces.
