FIRE crews and coastguards were called to Westward Ho! on Saturday night when a 13-year-old boy became stuck while attempting to climb cliffs.Three fire tenders arrived on scene and Westward Ho! coastguards carried out a cliff rescue and lowered the lad back down to the beach. For the first time, the coastguards were able to use new equipment with which they have been training throughout the winter months. It is quicker to set up than the old methods and helps to alleviate distress for the casualty.
