Church kitchen plans approved

Hall changes will improve facilities at Barnstaple community building.

LISTED building consent to build a kitchen area in the Trinity Church Hall, in Barnstaple, has been granted by North Devon Council planners.

The church will now be able to carry out the internal alterations to the 150-year-old Grade II listed hall in Victoria Road.

It is hoped that plans to create a kitchen in part of a store room will upgrade the current serving area, which is limited to hot drinks and simple heated food.

It is also hoped that the changes will improve the acoustics of the hall, used as a youth club, a drop-in centre for the homeless, and by various community groups including Barnstaple 1st Scouts.
