A midlands council says there is no truth to rumours it plans to buy housing in North Devon

Persistent rumours that Birmingham City Council is buying housing at Wrafton have been categorically denied by the council.

Local rumour and social media had alleged homes at the Chivenor Cross had been bought by the council, but a spokesman said this was 'completely untrue'.

He said they 'received calls every three months or so' making similar allegations.

Work is now underway on the site, which is being developed by the St Francis Group.

It will see a mixed use development with 150 homes, plus employment land.

It included plans for 'multi purpose hub' that could include a community building, plus open spaces and a park and ride.
