Fire fighters called out to property and had to request back up as fire spread to log store.

Fire fighters spent several hours fighting a fire which started in a chimney in the early hours of this morning (Thursday).

A crew was sent out to a house in Countisbury near Lynton at 2.40am but on arrival, fire fighters requested back up from a second crew.

By 3.25am the fire had spread to a wood store surrounding the wood burner, and the property was heavily smoke logged.

Crews got to work with breathing apparatus, hose reel, covering jet and thermal image camera. By 4.10am they extinguishing chimney fire and ventilating property.

Fire fighters then cleaned down the area, damped down hot spots and ventilated the house using small tools, two hose reels and a thermal image camera.
