A MINI-BUS carrying five children was involved in a three-vehicle crash near Braunton this afternoon (Monday).Its woman driver, from the Ilfracombe area, was airlifted to the North Devon District Hospital by Devon Air Ambulance.The mini-bus - understood to be a 13-seat Devon County Council vehicle - left the road about one mile outside Braunton, near Knowle, and ended up in an adjacent field. The woman driver was trapped and had to be released by the fire and rescue service before being taken to hospital. No-one else was injured. The child passengers were able to walk away from the scene and were found alternative transport. Also involved were a green Vauxhall Vectra car and a white Ford Transit van.The roadway was closed for around one-and-a-half hours and tailbacks built up, but by 3.30pm road closures were taken off and traffic was being controlled by stop-go boards.
