A group of North Devon children suffering from serious illnesses or disabilities have been taken on the holiday of a lifetime.Whitney Greig-Wills, Betsy Fiddy, Daisy Lane, Melanie Williams, Hunter Parton, Jack Mugford, Finlay Weeks, and Leo James have all returned from a two week trip to Florida. The trip was provided by the Childrens Holiday Foundation North Devon. Since its beginnings in 1993, the charity has taken 176 children on 23 separate holidays. Charity founder Dr Robin Buckland said: The children all grew in confidence over the two weeks and the holiday will help them to face up to the many challenges for thjem in the future. The voluntary helpers were all brilliant and their care, commitment and sense of fun is what makes these holidays so successful. The holidays cost about £30,000 and we are very grateful to the North Devon public for their generous support. During their trip the youngster visited many different theme parks. Dr Buckland added: They especially enjoyed swimming with the dolphins at Discovery Cove and the many amazing roller coasters. For more information visit www.childrensholidayfoundation.co.ukFor more North Devon stories visit our news feed here.
