A special, decorated Stagecoach South West bus in honour of local charity, Chemo Hero will once again grace this year’s Christmas Lights Switch On in Barnstaple this Sunday.

The bus, which returns following last year’s success, will be adorned with Christmas decorations and the charity’s logo, and is set to be parked in the lay-by opposite the square during the celebrations.

The bespoke vehicle will also host a special guest this year, as Father Christmas is expected to be on board to greet visitors and hand out gifts to children who wish to give a small donation to the charity.

The North Devon charity, founded by Lisa Wallis, provides special gift boxes to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at the Seamoor Unit in North Devon District Hospital.

The charity works tirelessly alongside local businesses and community groups to produce these boxes so that people undergoing treatment can enjoy some practical and luxury care items during their stay at hospital.

Lisa said: “Being a small charity, it’s wonderful to have the Stagecoach Chemo Hero bus in the public eye and we are looking forward to welcoming everyone on board! We will be down on the bus with information all about Chemo Hero and a very special visitor upstairs who can’t wait to meet everyone for a small donation!”

Representatives from Chemo Hero will be on hand at the event to provide passers-by with information about the charity and its mission and Stagecoach staff will also be in attendance to answer any customer’s questions and provide information for the Christmas and New Year period.
