A mother who has written a book about her grief after her daughters death with be doing a book signing event in Barnstaple. Jennifer Wilkin Shaws daughter Charlotte was only 14 when she was swept into a swollen river during a Ten Tors training exercise in March 2007, and died. A Testament of Grief is a raw and deeply personal account of Jennifers experience losing her husband, and then seven-years-later, her only child. Jennifer will be signing copies of the book at Waterstones in Barnstaple on Saturday, September 2 - a place with a special meaning for her. She said: Charlotte used to sit and read in there on a Saturday when we went shopping in Barnstaple. It is sad but beautiful that I will be signing the book that is dedicated to her in the same spot. Last month, speaking about her new book, Jennifer said: This book is so personal; its very vivid and visceral, but I have made everything public. Thats the difference between this book and others. Grief is something that nobody wants; its an enemy, but if you understand grief and know it really well, then somehow, you can have some sort of power with it. Jennifer will be signing copies of A Testament of Grief from noon-2pm at Barnstaple Waterstones on Saturday, September 2.
