THE ladies of CLIC Sargent, the UK's leading children's cancer charity, are appealing for help to raise money to help sick children. The staff and volunteers at the charity's Barnstaple shop are calling on people to donate their old mobile phones for recycling. For every mobile donated through Greener Solutions Ltd, £3 will be donated to CLIC Sargent irrespective of age or condition as the base materials can be used to manufacture new phones. If phones are of much higher value, they will be sold through the charity's online eBay shop.Staff at the Barnstaple shop launched the recycling initiative at the beginning of the month and have set themselves the target of collecting 300 mobiles in two months - that's enough to pay for two CLIC Sargent family support workers for a week.Debbie Smallbone, manager of the shop in the High Street, said: "I expect there must be at least one old mobile phone that is no longer in use tucked away somewhere in everyone's home."Every phone donated, irrespective of age or condition will equate to £3 raised for CLIC Sargent."That money will help fund vital clinical, psycho-social, emotional and financial care to support families facing the unimaginable.
