Barnstaple hospital chaplain the Reverend Julie Cartwright has taken her own ‘leap of faith’ – by jumping out of an aeroplane for the Chemotherapy Appeal.

Julie and husband Tim raised more than £1,000 with a skydive from 15,000 feet and hope to encourage others to follow in their slipstream.

Hospital charity Over and Above is organising more skydive events for 2015, with a tandem skydive on April 18 and the popular Superheroes Skydive on July 4.

“A tandem is an easy and enjoyable way to experience the thrills of skydiving without having to learn how,” said fundraising manager Ian Roome.

“The exhilarating freefall, combined with the peace and tranquillity of the parachute ride, makes tandem skydiving a unique and an eye-opening way to raise money for the Hospital Charity.”

You can also do a tandem skydive on almost any day of the year, or if you prefer, book onto one of the charity group booking days.

These include a world record attempt for the most people doing a tandem in one day.
