WORK is nearly complete on the installation of two new CCTV cameras at East-the-Water in Bideford.After working closely with the police, it was decided CCTV cameras were needed in the area and the most appropriate locations would be at the Royal Hotel and the Pollyfield Community Centre, said Ray Webster, head of environmental health and public protection at Torridge District Council.East-the-Water councillor Caroline Church said: "Funds were made available with the support of Torridge District Council, Bideford Town Council and the Bridge Trust. The Community Centre at Pollyfield and surrounding area has suffered increasing and persistent vandalism and these cameras, although seen as an intrusion by some, will help local residents to carry out their daily lives without so much worry.
