Cars or horse manure: which is most useful?

SIR - Apparently the survey carried out in 1884, asking the Great and the Good at that time what they thought would be important in 100 years' time showed a concensus of opinion on one issue: Mankind would be unable to move for horse manure! Unfortunately

SIR - Apparently the survey carried out in 1884, asking the Great and the Good at that time what they thought would be important in 100 years' time showed a concensus of opinion on one issue: Mankind would be unable to move for horse manure!Unfortunately that has not been the case, in fact it is cars that clog up the system one way or another. If only we could replace the millions of unsold cars with horse manure - just think what we could do with all that free natural fertiliser! It would certainly be more useful than all the bull we get from those in control at present.Do you suppose the (no doubt well-paid) management of the car industry can come up with an answer to over production by diversifying some of their manufacture into something the country needs more than row upon row of rusting new cars.S M Nutton,North Devon
