Carnival update: AGM next week

AS many people as possible are urged to attend Barnstaple Carnival AGM, which is being held next Wednesday (Jan 26) and not tonight, as inadvertently published in this week’s newspaper.

The meeting, which starts at 7.30pm, is described by carnival chairman Arthur Windsor as “extremely important” for the future of the carnival, one of the main events on the town calendar.

He is calling on the people and businesses of the town to go along and show their support.

“This year’s AGM will be one of significant importance and could have ramifications as far as the carnival is concerned. Anyone who values watching or taking part in their yearly carnival really should attend,” said Mr Windsor.

The Barnstaple committee would also like to hear from anyone who could offer their services as a volunteer or committee member and organisations that could offer sponsorship, he added.
