Fire fighters rush to scene after reports of person trapped in vehicle on B3233 near Instow.

Fire fighters were called out to assist with a collision near Instow in the early hours on Saturday morning.

Crews from Bideford and the heavy rescue team from Middlemoor raced to the scene on the B3233 shortly after midnight.

Intial reports said a car had left the road and overturned in a field, with someone possibly trapped inside.

But on arrival the Bideford crews confirmed the driver was free of the vehicle and stood the heavy rescue team down.

There had been a small fire in the vehicle following the collision which fire fighters put out.

The casualty was treated by paramedics.
