Fire crews and the police were called out to the car fire on the Bradninch Road near Barnstaple

A car was ‘100 per cent’ damaged following a fire near Barnstaple on Wednesday (October 11).

Two fire appliances from Barnstaple were called out to reports of a car fire on the Bradninch Road, Westacott, at around 10.40pm.

On arrival it was confirmed that the vehicle was well alight.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The car was 100 per cent damaged by fire and to extinguish it crews used two breathing apparatus, one compressed air foam jet, one hose reel and a thermal image camera.”

According to the fire service the police also attended.
