EMERGENCY services were called to St Johns Lane in Barnstaple in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday) after a car collided with a lamp post.

No one was injured by the impact, which happened just after 1.30am and when a Barnstaple fire crew arrived all the occupants were clear of the vehicle.

Fire fighters cleared up an oil spill in the road and made the car safe, before leaving it in the hands of the police.
