NORTH Devon Council has experienced a record increase in demand for its bulky goods collection service.Since August, the authority has received more than 1,100 requests from residents asking it to collect and dispose of their bulky goods - an increase of more than 100 per cent compared with the same period the year before.Last summer, the council announced it was going to scrap its £15 charge for the first bulky item it collects from a householder in a year. Any additional collections made that year would still be charged at £15 per item.A full list of the "standard" bulky goods included in the free collection scheme is available on the council's website at www. northdevon.gov.uk/greensweep or by contacting Greensweep on (01271) 374776.
