SIR - We live in the supposedly peaceful village of Appledore. We have just had the glass of our front door broken by a gang of youths, who ran past shouting; presumably this is their idea of fun? Two neighbours have also had their windows broken in the past, one has given up and boarded half his window up because of these idiots who get their kicks from attacking people's homes. I have lived in rough areas of London and never had my home attacked before. Is this how future generations have been brought up? Where do their parents think they are at 10pm, or have they long ago given up caring? It is time that everyone learnt that their actions do have consequences, and sooner or later these will catch up with them. I hope one day they are on the receiving end of the same mindless vandalism, to see how it feels. Sue Coleman,Appledore
