Overnight work to replace an expansion joint on the structure between Barnstaple and South Molton will start on the evening of Wednesday, January 2. Two-way traffic lights will be in place between 7pm and 6am, five nights a week. The road will be fully open during the day. The £400,000 scheme has some weekend work planned, as well as three overnight closures scheduled on Monday, January 7, Sunday, February 10 and Monday, March 18 between 7pm and 6am, with diversions in place via Landkey, Swimbridge and Filleigh. A 30mph speed limit will be put in place across the viaduct, with speed cameras to enforce the restriction. DCCs cabinet member for highway management, Councillor Stuart Hughes, said: The upkeep of Devons bridges and structures is absolutely vital. The expansion joint on the viaduct needs replacing as soon as possible and this scheme has been timed to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.
