BRAUNTON School has been celebrating an excellent round of GCSE exam results. The school said most students had met or exceeded their grade targets as a result of hard work, good attendance and excellent teaching.

"Our school's motto is 'Success for all in our learning community,' so it was great to see again that 100 per cent of students in the cohort gained useful qualifications that will serve them well for their courses and careers," said principal David Sharratt.

"There were many individual triumphs...with a considerable number of students gaining top GCSE or equivalent grades in 10 or more subjects."

A majority of students will continue their studies elsewhere - one has secured a scholarship at Eton College!

Almost nearly 70 per cent of students achieved five A* to C grades, with 54 per cent gaining five A*-C including English and maths: maths and additional maths results this year put the school in the top 10 per cent of similar in the country.

Mr Sharratt added: "A significant proportion achieved several A and A* grades, above the national average"

He thanked parents for their support. "When parents, staff and students work together success invariably follows. We wish our leaver students all the very best.
