Charity group has raised thousands to help fight the disease
In the two years it has been running, the Braunton and District Fundraising Group for Cancer Research UK has raised more than £19,000.
This includes £9,261 raised through coffee mornings, stalls at local fairs and events and suppers, plus another £9,904 collected from local funeral directors following generous donations at services.
Since October it has been able to send £8,000 to the charity.
This included a ‘humbling’ £400 collected from shoppers at Braunton Tesco, selling unity bands during World Cancer Day.
Chairman Alison Casey said they were a dedicated group of volunteers: “We have all met cancer at some point in our lives and we are just passionate about cancer research and how important it is for future generations.”
