Community hopes to raise £3,000 so life-saving helicopter can land at Braunton Recreation Ground after dark

A community appeal has been launched to create a night time landing site for the Devon Air Ambulance in Braunton.

The target is just over £3,000 and there has already been a donation of £1,000 by Compass CHC.

Devon Air Ambulance Trust, Braunton Parish Council and resident Patrick Farrelly of Braunton Caen Rotary Club have identified the Recreation Ground as the suitable site to install floodlight equipment for the helicopter to land.

Tim Davies, managing director of Compass CHC, said: "The ability for our community to have vital air ambulance assistance at night and during the dark winter evenings is something which I feel can only be of benefit to the community of Braunton."

The total cost to install lighting and the associated electrical work is £6,47019. DAAT is providing a grant of £3,447.89 to cover installation costs with the community being asked to raise the remaining amount.
