Two North Devon 19-year-old entrepreneurs are celebrating a sell-out week with their new fish and chip business, Simply S&S. The boys, Shaun Herbert from Parkham and Sean Gregory from Fremington, have been serving up a mouth-watering menu of locally sourced and produced meals in villages around North Devon and have been astonished by the welcome they've had.To keep the business as local as possible, the fish is freshly caught just off the coast of Lundy and comes from Appledore company S&P. The potatoes are grown in Weare Giffard and are hand-cut by the two boys each day in preparation for the busy evenings.Having visited the villages of Instow, Buckland Brewer, Shebbear and Littleham, Shaun Herbert said they have had a fantastic response from the villagers. He said: "The first few nights have shown there's a real appetite for good, local, reasonably-priced fish and chips. We even sold out of fish on one night so we're planning ahead to make sure that doesn't happen again!"He continued: "I've always wanted my own business, and have worked within the catering industry for a few years so knew what to expect when we came up with the idea of Simply S&S. And l think local people are happy to support something that's working for the local economy, too, even if times are tough for everyone."To help keep Devon tidy, the food serving boxes are 100% recyclable and to make life simple for customers, the boys provide bins outside the van - one for recycling the boxes, one for recycling drinks cans and one for general rubbish.Sean Gregory said: "Because we have lived locally all our lives and love Devon so much, we wanted to keep the business really local. And we also want to be as environmentally friendly as possible."Simply S&S will be heading to Shebbear, Buckland Brewer, Littleham and Instow once a week, and the boys are still deciding where to go on the spare three days a week. They are also planning to become a familiar sight at Sunday events such as car boot sales, car races and village gatherings.
