A 14-year-old boy was attacked from behind while walking from Northam Square down Diddywell Road last night (Wednesday).
The offender grabbed the victim and demanded that he hand over his mobile phone. The victim was kicked in the back, but did not give up the phone.
A local resident heard the disturbance and shouted at the offender, who ran up the hill towards The Square. He is described as aged 18-21, 5ft 8in to 5ft 11in tall and of slim bujild.
He was wearing a hoody, black jeans and light coloured trainers.

The victim was taken to North Devon District Hospital for a check-up.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened at around 7.50pm, or anyone who may have information as to who the offender is.
