Monday 8am: FIRE crews have spent all night battling a fire which broke out at Edgehill College in Bideford at midnight.Eight fire appliances from across North Devon with some 70 fire fighters on board sped to the scene after receiving a number of calls from members of the public.The aerial ladder platform from Barnstaple, a water bowser and the incident command vehicle from Ilfracombe were also in attendance.The fire is thought to have started in the roof space of the 100metre by 50-metre building. By 4.30am 50 per cent of the roof and second floor had been severely damaged by fire along with 30 per cent of the first floor. Water damage had also affected 50 per cent of the lower ground and ground floors.By 7am three fire crews remained at the scene damping down and salvaging items from the building.The blaze happened at the opposite end of the public school, which was destroyed by fire some two years ago.
