THE Bishop of Exeter, The Right Reverend Michael Langrish, is in North Devon today (Thursday) on a fact-finding tour of the region.He was visiting RAF Chivenor this morning to meet the Search and Rescue helicopter crews.The tour is part of the celebrations to mark the 1,100th anniversary of the Diocese of Exeter.This afternoon, the Bishop is having lunch at the Rose and Crown, West Down, with members of the farming community before going on to Ilfracombe to be briefed on the economy of the fishing industry and future development of the harbour.He will also be meeting the town's street pastors, before presiding at a confirmation service at Holy Trinity Church, Ilfracombe, this evening.Tomorrow, the Bishop will meet local school children and go on a walkabout in Barnstaple Pannier Market.In the evening, he and the Archdeacon of Barnstaple, the Ven David Gunn-Johnson, will meet local police officers in Barnstaple to discuss the town's night-time economy and drug and alcohol issues.On Saturday, the Bishop will visit Georgeham, walk along the beach from Putsborough to Woolacombe and attend a church service at St Peter's Barnstaple in the evening.On Sunday, he will attend morning service at St Brannock's Church, Braunton, followed by a parish lunch.
