Bishop Bob visits Torridgeside

THE Bishop of Crediton, the Rt Rev Bob Evens, is beginning a visit to Torridgeside today (Thursday) with a walk along the Tarka Trail from Bideford to Instow. His visit is part of the celebrations to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Diocese of Exeter.

THE Bishop of Crediton, the Rt Rev Bob Evens, is beginning a visit to Torridgeside today (Thursday) with a walk along the Tarka Trail from Bideford to Instow.His visit is part of the celebrations to mark the 1100th anniversary of the Diocese of Exeter.Tonight, Bishop Bob is attending a Holy Karaoke session in the bar of the Crealock Arms at Littleham.St Swithin's Church in Littleham holds a monthly community singalong in the pub, featuring popular old and new songs with some traditional hymns.Tomorrow, Bishop Bob will visit students at Bideford College and then join Christians Together at St Mary's Church, Bideford, where lunch is served every week to around 20 vulnerable people.On Saturday at 7.30pm, the Bishop will lead a discussion time with local people in Appledore Church Hall before joining participants at Bideford Rugby Club for the annual Night Walk in aid of North Devon Hospice of which he is president.Bishop Bob said: "I enjoy spending time with people in this beautiful part of Devon. I want to say thank you to everyone making enormous contributions to their communities."The visit will culminate on Sunday with a Deanery Eucharist at Kingsley College Hall to be followed by a bring and share lunch.
